明けまして、２０２４年。
母方の旧姓が「辰巳」のため、２０２４年は昇り調子にしたいなぁなんて思っていた１月１日、その故郷で震災が起きてしまいました。最大震源地の１つとなった石川県の志賀町にほど近い、宝達志水町の旧町名で志雄町、駅名だと敷浪という１時間に１本しか電車が止まらない海辺の町。いや、電車がつながっているだけ能登半島ではまだ交通の便はいいほうで、電車はその先は七尾までで、輪島や珠州へは車がないとたどり着けません。道路の陥没、崩れなどで報じられる穴水、宇ノ気、羽咋、内灘、七尾、輪島などなど、子どもの頃から親族宅や観光などで訪れたことがある場所ばかり。現実感がありすぎて、見覚えがある場所が映るたび実家のテレビを消してしまいました。
東京に戻ってきてからは、東京の家にはテレビがないのでニュースは選んで見られることのメリットを感じるほど。幸運なことに親族宅はいずれも大きな被害はなかったものの、断水中。仕事でご縁があった方たちも心配です…。
現在、徐々にボランティアセンターの開設が行われています。とりあえずは加賀市在住者のみなど条件付きなのは、盗難などの問題と眠る場所の確保などがあるからと思われます。
あと１か月ぐらいすると、本格的な生活再建のために人手が必要になってきます。私の経験では、東日本大震災から５か月経った８月に宮城県にボランティアに１泊３日の強行軍で参加してきましたが、一時のボランティア殺到の波は過ぎたものの、まだまだ人出は必要とされていました。
私はもうオバちゃんなので現地入りでの支援は控えますが、体力的にOKなご家族など危険がない状況になったら、もしよければ。人力でしかできないことはあります。ニュースで見るのとは違う災害の現場。若い人ほど、その経験は糧になると思います。春休みの人生経験に、いっそ就職活動のネタづくりでもいいと思います。むしろ利用していいと思う。ただ、女性は安全のために単独ではなく、グループでの参加をおすすめします。

On January 1, when I was thinking that I would like to make the year 2024 an ascending year because my mother’s maiden name is “Tatsumi,” an earthquake disaster occurred in mother’s hometown. Shika,Anamizu, Unoki, Hakui, Uchinada, Nanao, Wajima, and other places that are reported for road sinking and collapses are all places I have visited since childhood, either at relatives’ houses or for sightseeing. It felt so real that I turned off the TV at my parents’ house every time I saw a familiar place on the screen.
After returning to Tokyo, I even felt the benefit of being able to pick and choose what news I wanted to watch since there was no TV in my Tokyo home. Luckily, none of my relatives’ houses were severely damaged, but the water was cut off. I am also worried about the people I had a connection with through work….
Currently, volunteer centers are gradually being opened. For the time being, the reason why there are conditions such as only residents of Kaga City are allowed to use the centers is thought to be due to problems such as theft and securing a place to sleep.
In my experience, I participated in a forced three-day and one-night volunteer trip to Miyagi Prefecture in August, five months after the Great East Japan Earthquake, and although the temporary wave of volunteer flooding had passed, there was still a need for more people.
If you are in a situation where there is no danger, such as a family member who is physically OK, if you would like. There are things that can only be done by human power. The site of a disaster is different from what you see on the news. I think you can use the spring break as a life experience, or even better, to create a story for your job search. However, I recommend that women participate in a group, not alone, for safety reasons.
